Wendy Dohner
Wendy is very excited to hold a position on the Board. She strongly agrees with the Speak Up for Kids mission to ensure the GAL Program has the necessary resources to provide every abused, abandoned, and neglected child a court appointed advocate. Currently, Wendy is a Guardian ad Litem Volunteer (GAL). In February 2018, Wendy was a driving force behind 2 cases involving three sisters: 5, 7, and 18 months. The sisters were separated by the system along with other circumstances. As the girls’ Guardian Ad Litem, Wendy never gave up and now three sisters are thriving and are living together for the first time in their lives with their maternal aunt. Being there on the day of the reunion was one of the most rewarding experiences of Wendy’s life. Wendy has been married for 24 years. Wendy recently sold her restaurant and moved to Florida. Wendy holds active Real Estate licenses in both California and Florida, has a Certificate in Mortgage Lending, and a Paralegal Certificate. Previously, Wendy sat on a Board of Directors of Business Improvement District (BID) in California. For the first year of her term, she sat on the executive committee as the Treasurer. Wendy was a Law Firm Administrator for 7 years and worked for Intel Corporation for 7 years. Besides the Guardian ad Litem Program, Wendy also volunteer her times with Stand Up for Kids, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, National Canine Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society, Domestic Violence Resource Center, USO, International Sports Counsel, Sheriff Activity League, and One Church One Child. One of Wendy’s favorite quotes: “Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”
